I am Abbot Shi Wuyue of Xizu Temple in Madagascar. As we approach 2026, on behalf of the entire monastic community, I extend our heartfelt New Year greetings and best wishes to friends worldwide who have shown care and support for our temple. We are deeply grateful for your sincere dedication and selfless contributions over the past year.
Looking back on 2025, we have journeyed together through a meaningful period enriched by goodwill. In May, we successfully hosted the "Buddha's Birthday Celebration and First World Peace Culture & Arts Festival" at Xizu Temple, inviting artists from around the world to sow seeds of peace and friendship on this serene land. In October, I led the Wuyue Symphony Orchestra on a month-long European tour across six cities in Italy for the "World Peace Culture & Arts Festival." During this tour, we visited the European Committee of the Regions, engaging in fruitful dialogues on cultural exchanges, artistic collaboration, and spiritual development between China and Europe. We also had the honor of visiting the Pavarotti Foundation and Casa Verdi, immersing ourselves in the profound artistic legacy of Italy.
In the course of cultural exchanges, we were privileged to meet with Maestro Domingo and Nobel Peace Prize laureates, engaging in candid and profound discussions on world peace, the shared destiny of humanity, and the power of culture and spirituality. We deeply believe that only through mutual understanding, respect, and tolerance can human society truly move toward peaceful coexistence.
All these endeavors reflect our original aspiration to promote the excellence of traditional Chinese culture: conveying Chinese wisdom through music, bridging Eastern and Western civilizations with meditative melodies, and expressing our heartfelt prayers for world peace through the artistic concept of "harmony in diversity."
In the coming year, we will remain true to our mission, carrying the hopes and expectations of devotees everywhere. We will steadfastly advance on the path of spreading the Dharma for the benefit of all beings and upholding peace, integrating Buddhist compassion and vows into cultural heritage and mutual learning among civilizations, dedicating our efforts to the peace and well-being of the world.
