I heard a story in a domestic temple that when Elder Jinghui was alive, Zen Master Wule always went to Huangmei to do business or passed by Huangmei, and always visited the Sizu Temple where the elders abbots, but never called in advance.
Later, one time, the Zen master came again with a few disciples. The young Zen masters looked up to their master and thought it was "too presumptuous" to come without even saying hello, so they asked the master why this was. The Zen master said, "If you call in advance, the old man will arrange time to meet us."
This is for ourselves, not for the elderly. The old man is very busy and time is very precious. We went there to wait. When we saw that the old man had free time, we could just go over and visit him.
