A group of guests went to the temple to do business. When they left, Zen Master Wule stood on the steps and watched them, but the guests did not realize it and walked away without looking back.
A disciple of Zen Master Wule thought this was very impolite and said to the master: "They don't know that you are giving it to them, so why does the master still give it to them?" The Zen Master said: "I'm just giving it to them, not for them."
