On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, the Dragon Boat Festival arrives. Originating from ancient Chinese reverence for nature, this festival later became a tribute to the loyal spirit of Qu Yuan, further enriched with the profound meanings of warding off evil, preventing epidemics, and praying for peace and health. The act of casting fragrant zongzi into rivers and the sight of dragon boats breaking through waves are both celebrations of life and remembrances of those departed.
At 10:00 AM on May 31, 2025, Xizu Temple held a ‘Dragon Boat Festival Prayer and Liberation Dharma Ceremony’ in the Main Shrine Hall. With the compassionate power of Buddhism, monks chanted sutras and recited Buddha’s name to guide the deceased toward rebirth in the Pure Land, while also dispelling misfortunes and prolonging the lives of the living. May the Buddha’s light shine universally—granting liberation to the departed and peace to the living. A single lamp of the heart dispels ignorance; a single thought of compassion brings fulfillment to all beings.
May these merits be dedicated to the Dharma Realm, eliminating all calamities and bringing eternal peace to the land.
With palms joined in prayer, we wish all a safe and blessed Dragon Boat Festival.
